Turkey Medical Visa for Greek Citizens
Sometimes, people go to a country other than the country of residence in order to regain health, for medical treatment purposes. Over the years, Turkey has become one of the most sought-after destinations for medical tourism because of its excellent medical infrastructure and expert doctors in different fields of medicine.
Greek nationals who come to Turkey for treatment may need to stay in Turkey throughout the treatment process. In this case, the Greek national must apply for a residence permit in time in order not to violate the visa duration. Foreign nationals who come to Turkey within the scope of visa exemption can apply for residence permit before the exemption period expires, and foreigners who come with a visa before the visa expiry date.
The residence permit document, is issued in the form of a card after the establishment of the Immigration Administration and is a valid identity document in the Republic of Turkey, which includes the foreigner’s identity information, type of permit, start and end date.
While the share of health expenditures in Turkey’s tourism revenues was 1% in 2002, this rate increased to 4.5% in 2020. Due to the global pandemic in 2020, there has been a noticeable decrease in the number of health tourists and 388,150 patients preferred Turkey to receive health services. In the first quarter of 2021, 110,716 people received health services in Turkey.
The medical branches most preferred by international patients are respectively; Gynecology, internal medicine, ophthalmology, medical biochemistry, general surgery, plastic surgery, hair transplant, dentistry, orthopedics and traumatology, infectious diseases and ear-nose-throat.
